Dies ist das sechste Produkt dieser Art, seit Nokia 1996 mit der Einführung des Communicator 9000 den Grundstein für eine erfolgreiche Modellpalette legte. Aber keines startete mit so viel Erfolg. Mit dem Härtetest soll festgestellt werden, ob es ihnen im Alltag hilft.

Während frühere Kommunikatoren mit Mühe ins Rennen gingen, hat der E90 nun nominell alles, was möglich ist. Beispielsweise verfügte der 9210 im Jahr 2001 nicht über GPRS als Datendienst, während die Nachfolger 9500 und 9300(i) nicht über UMTS verfügten. Und alle haben den Vibrationsalarm verpasst.
Der auf der 3GSM-Konferenz in Barcelona im Frühjahr 2007 vorgestellte E90 hingegen lässt keine Wünsche offen. Es unterstützt HSDPA und WLAN für Highspeed-Internet, ist in allen GSM-Netzen der Welt einsetzbar, verfügt über einen GPS-Empfänger für die Bordnavigation und verfügt zudem über Multimedia-Features mit Musikplayer und 3,2-Megapixel-Kamera.
Das E90 stellt Hardcore-Fans des Messengers noch vor einige Herausforderungen. Denn während Vorgänger ab 9210 über ein Symbian-Betriebssystem, aber über eine eigene Communicator-Schnittstelle verfügten (80er-Serie), setzt Nokia bei der E90-Surface-60-Serie (S60) auf das verbreitetere Surface.
Der Vorteil: Durch den breiten Einsatzbereich des S60 ist das Softwareangebot sehr umfangreich. Jeder, der das S60-Modell verwendet hat, kann mit Communicator schnell loslegen. Auf der anderen Seite müssen Nutzer der 80er-Serie umsteigen und vermissen manchmal hier und da ein Feature.
Wirklich ein Unternehmer?
Dann gab es den Vorwurf, dass der E90 für kommerzielle Zwecke nicht ganz geeignet sei. Und man muss zugeben: Wer ein Outlook mit allen Details zum E90 erwartet, wird enttäuscht. Beispielsweise gibt es im Kalender und im Adressbuch keine Option zum Erstellen verschiedener Ordner. Outlook-Adresskategorien gehen bei der Synchronisierung mit E90 verloren. Außerdem gibt es keinen Regelleitfaden, mit dem Sie eingehende E-Mails auf verschiedene Ordner verteilen können.
Wer Outlook unbedingt mitnehmen möchte, ist mit einem Windows Mobile-Gerät auf jeden Fall besser bedient. Allerdings sind die meisten E90-Besitzer mit der Bandbreite der Business-Talent-Funktionen rundum zufrieden. Lobenswert ist, dass das Kommunikationsprogramm auch E-Mail-Anhänge anzeigt und die Bearbeitung einfacher Word- und Excel-Dateien ermöglicht. Und sollte eine Funktion wirklich fehlen, lassen sich viele mit zusätzlicher Software nachrüsten.

Der Communicator ist ein kleiner Computer und hat seine eigenen Eigenschaften. Erstens ist mit Fehlern zu rechnen. Es ist nicht immer möglich, die genaue Ursache zu ermitteln. Eine Sekundeverbinden-verbinden-Freund Wolfgang Boos klagt über regelmäßige Abstürze, mein E90 funktioniert zuverlässig. Auch aus dem Forum berichten E90-Nutzer von nahezu keinen Störungen.
Aber lästige Bugs sind immer vorhanden, wie beispielsweise „Wolf57“ berichtet: „Manchmal habe ich Probleme beim Freisprechen mit der Freisprecheinrichtung Parrot 3100. Es kommt ständig vor, dass die Bluetooth-Verbindung abbricht und die Geräte sich nur dann verbinden, wenn sie ausgeschaltet sind und.“ Kommt ab dem E90 wieder, das funktionierte vorher beim E65 und E61 ohne Probleme.
Zweitens: Das Kommunikationsgerät muss gewartet werden – durch regelmäßige Software-Updates. Besitzer markenfremder Geräte haben hier eine schnellere Chance, bei Modellen mit Netzbetreiber-Software dauert die Veröffentlichung des Updates meist etwas länger. Um auf die neueste Softwareversion zu aktualisieren, muss Nokia Software Updater auf Ihrem Computer installiert sein. existierenkostenlos auf der Nokia-Websiteim Abschnitt „Service und Software/Software“.

Stabilitätsprobleme lassen sich meist mit neuer Software beheben: „Zuerst stürzte es oft ab, aber nach dem Update der Firmware war es sehr stabil“, berichtet ein Mitglied des „navigon7“-Forums. Auch beim dritten Problem gibt es kaum Fortschritte. Wie viele echte Computer verfügt der E90 nicht über die geringste Rechenleistung.
Es stimmt, dass Nokia die S60-Geräte in letzter Zeit deutlich aufgewertet hat. Der Zugriff auf ein gut gefülltes Adressbuch dauert jedoch weniger als zwei Sekunden und die Kamera startet in drei Sekunden. Es ist nicht dramatisch, aber es entschleunigt den Alltag ein wenig. Im direkten Vergleich mit dem iPhone ist der Unterschied sehr deutlich: Selbst im EDGE-Netzwerk navigiert das Apple-Handy schneller als das E90 im WLAN. Die Prozessorleistung des Geräts scheint das langsamste Glied in der Kette zu sein.

Hui-Hardware, solche Verarbeitung – E90 bestätigt, was für viele Nokia-Modelle gilt. Obwohl die meisten Messenger-Besitzer zufrieden sind. „Die Verarbeitung ist hochwertig, das Material gut und auch nach neun Monaten sind noch keine Abnutzungserscheinungen wie Kratzer, abgenutzte Scharniere oder ein milchiger Bildschirm zu erkennen“, lobt „cgbln“ weiterverbinden-verbinden-Gericht. Und abseits des Bildschirms erinnert uns der Communicator dank seiner matten Oberfläche nicht ständig daran, wie so viele andere Telefone heute, dass die menschliche Haut nicht so trocken und sauber ist, wie wir gerne denken.
Doch anfangs gab es viele Beschwerden über teure Edelillusionen. Die Tastatur vieler Geräte drückte gegen den Bildschirm und hinterließ Flecken und das unangenehme Gefühl, dass sie keinen langfristigen Schaden anrichten würde. Nokia hat es nun verbessert und in Folgeserien sogar die Tastatur geändert.
Außerdem schaukeln Geräte nicht immer auf vier Gummifüßen. Man kann zwar damit leben, auch mit einem etwas instabilen Akkudeckel, aber solche Ausfälle sollten bei einem so teuren Gerät nicht passieren.
Beschwerden über die Servicequalität
Startprobleme kamen durch Lärm hinzuverbinden-verbinden-Leser sind, gelinde gesagt, immer noch ein suboptimaler Dienst. Ein Mitglied des „hnp“-Forums beschwert sich: „Ich warte seit mehr als zwei Monaten auf ein Ersatzgerät, das ebenfalls defekt ist: Das E90 hat sich für mich als Profi-Smartphone entledigt. Die Ausstattung und Technik des Geräts ist.“ konkurrenzlos im positiven Sinne. Inkompetenter, unflexibler Service und auch unvollständig – im negativen Sinne.“

Jetzt, wo wir unsere Finger in den Wunden haben, kann das Gesamtbild sehr negativ aussehen. Doch auch wenn die Feier anders aussieht: Die meisten E90-Besitzer sind mit ihrem Communicator zufrieden. Denn die Kombination aus einem großen Handy, das sich auch im geschlossenen Zustand noch bequem mit einer Hand bedienen lässt, mit einem faltbaren Mini-PC, der als mobiler Tisch mit großem Bildschirm und vor allem einer guten Tastatur genutzt werden kann, überzeugt .
Zumal die Hardware wirklich leistungsstark ist: Die Bewertung der meisten Stammnutzer reicht von „super“ bis „sehr zufrieden“. „Ich habe vor dem Kauf lange darüber nachgedacht, heute würde ich es wieder kaufen“ – zieht „famk“ im Connecta-Forum eine positive Bilanz seiner Hochzeit mit dem E90.
Klar ist aber auch: Von regelmäßigen Software-Updates bis hin zum Tolerieren kleiner Bugs: Wer mit seinem Messenger zufrieden sein will, muss sich damit abfinden.
