The worst places in south east London, according to the people who live there (2023)

Chere it isKentThe end and London begins?

This is a hot topic, and depending on your age, you may have a different answer.

It wasn't until the Local Government Act 1963 when Greenwich, Bromley and Bexley were absorbed into Kent.

Whichever side of the border you're on, your city probably came uplive here.

This satirical site reveals minor flaws and turns them into brutal downfalls.

We dispel some myths and explain how these areas really are.

Bexleyheath

The worst places in south east London, according to the people who live there (1)

As one resident described it:“This is the nest of all evil in the galaxy. Bandits, gangsters, trekkers and 12-year-olds lurk in the shopping centers of Erith and Bexleyheath.

Don't even get me started on the mid-adults, they're just as bad as the juveniles. They are noisy, uneducated, do not know how to write and cannot pronounce a single word correctly.

"There are absolutely no characters here, it's a dull and depressing place to live."

How it really is:We're not sure this person sees the same Bexleyheath as we do, but we digress.

These shopping centers offer a wide selection of stores for people of all ages. From M&S to River Island and Game, Broadway has what you're looking for.

The main street is also great. With a mix of independent shops, markets and chain businesses - the main street is the city's trump card.

If you want to go a little further, Danson Park is recognized as the biggest tourist attraction in the region.

Bromley

As one resident described it:Bromley, Kent. Headquarters of the insurance company that created the summoning dogs. Say everything."

“Bromley really is the pit of the earth. Avoid at all costs."

"If you're thinking of coming to Bromley in the future, try somewhere less decent, like central London."

How is it really?: Bromley is a busy town but High Elms Country Park is just a short stroll away. High Elms Country Park is the perfect place for a walk or dog adventure. It's easy to forget how close you are to the city.

Of course, it has excellent links to the city, and the city center, which continues to improve, there are few better places to live outside of London.

Don't avoid it at all costs, it really is a great place!

Woolwich

As one resident described it:"Woolwich boys aren't really idiots, they're more like bad boys who want gangsters"

The buses are always full because nobody can afford a car.

All the apartments in the area are council apartments, high and low, an endless stream of council apartments.

How it really is:It is an area rich in history. The famous Royal Arsenal, a former weapons production complex from the 17th century.

While there are remnants of the area's past around town, there is now a bustling street with a good community spirit. New housing construction is also seen in the area as improvements continue to be seen.

The future of the region looks bright!

Orpington

As described by a resident"Orpington has grown in recent years to become one of the noisiest areas imaginable. God only knows where it all comes from."

"Main Street is heaven, maccy d's, wet spoons and cheap stella from the local Spar or Jet workshop."

"The ***** are usually in the 'Tunnel' at the bottom of Orpington station.

“They tried to put cameras in here to stop that sort of thing, but yeah, you guessed it, they were destroyed before they even activated.

How it really is:The Walnuts mall has been renovated relatively recently and has a good mix of shops and restaurants on site.

If you have young people (or adults) who want to have fun, there is a paintball field nearby and a trampoline park! You can thank us later!

Chislehurst Caverns are just a few miles away and are definitely worth a visit!

Plumstead

As described by a resident"It's so central, you can't take three steps without bumping into a thirteen-year-old boy pushing a pram, dripping with gold clown charms with slicked-back hair, a fake burberry and a pink velvet tracksuit, complete with three pairs of matching gold knocker earrings."

The worst places in south east London, according to the people who live there (6)

"For girls' nights, Woolwich Market shabby ponchos are a must, only in pink or green, which is a fashion craze."

How it really is:The area is known for its extensive green spaces - Plumstead Park forms part of the local heritage.

It has plenty of lovely pubs to welcome any visitor and enough restaurants to keep you going for weeks!

To be honest, that's a pretty harsh view of a Plumsteader.

Sidcup

The worst places in south east London, according to the people who live there (8)

As one resident described it:"There are lots of groups of boys and girls everywhere burning cars, fighting and breaking things."

"There are always kids all over Sidcup looking for a fight and they are always robbing, bottling and stabbing people.

How it really is:Trust us - there aren't always guys looking for a fight!

It's actually a very welcoming neighborhood, if you're lucky enough to be in town you should stop by the historic Star on Sidcup Place. It used to be a fortress and a mansion, but now it's a very cozy restaurant and bar!

Located on the main street, the library is a crazy place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Bermondseya

As described by a resident"If anyone has ever been to Bermondsey in south east London, they've no doubt seen the amazing array of street vendors that crowd the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre."

"Behind mall doors you can find groups of women standing around their carts, smoking shit and cursing loudly."

(Video) 24 Hours In London's Most Ghetto Town (East London)

“Bermondsey has ten bowling alleys (full*****), a cinema and a shopping mall for the convicts. I can't wait to leave."

How is it really?: Bermondsey is home to many antique shops, independent shops and of course the Bermondsey Square Antique Market. It still follows the old rules, opening at 6am and closing at 2pm on Fridays.

The Fashion and Textile Museum is a testament to how far this part of London has come, and with Millwall FC 2017 club of the year winners, it's a really good community.

Must visit!

Money

The worst places in south east London, according to the people who live there (9)

As one resident described it:“Once you notice the railway bridge that is at the height of the Bromley Borough flood, you are dooming yourself for life by entering Penge.

"The pavement of Penge High Street has more gum than is sold in every kiosk in Bromley Borough."

Do not stay in Penge. No, really, just no.

How it really is:Penge, like most cities adjacent to London, has slices of the capital at competitive prices.

In fact, most days spent in Penge are about the same as a day spent in the city.

The Bridge House Theater is a venue that would not look out of place in central London.

Croydon

What did the resident say?"Any notions you may have that everyone is equal and shows compassion to all their neighbors will be dispelled by the briefest experience of the filth that inhabits Croydon.

I really can't think of many specific places because they have the whole area so well. In particular avoid Croydon College, West Croydon and wherever there is a tram line.

How it really is:We're not sure this resident knows where he is.

Museums, shopping centers and even a historic windmill, Croydon has it all.

It has built a reputation as one of the trendiest places outside central London.
